DMA Names Neil C. O'Keefe VP Catalog and Multichannel Merchant Segment; Underscores Segment Commitment
DMA today announced that Neil C. O’Keefe, VP, marketing for Spiegel Brands, will join DMA as its vice president, catalog and multichannel merchant segment, reporting directly to Ken Ebeling, senior vice president, member and segment services. O'Keefe will begin on Sept. 30 and will be based in DMA’s New York headquarters.
Direct Marketing Educational Foundation Announces Inaugural Shankar Spiegel Award Winner
The Direct Marketing Educational Foundation (DMEF) today announced that Anita Man Luo of the University of Connecticut will be presented with the first-ever DMEF Shankar-Spiegel Award for the Best Dissertation Proposal in Direct/Interactive Marketing. Andrew Stephen of Columbia University and Seshadri Tirunillai of the University of Southern California will receive Honorable Mentions.

DMA's Quarterly Business Review (QBR) for Q2 Finds Profitability Growth Despite Decline in Year-Over- Year Revenue
DMA released its Quarterly Business Review (QBR) for the second quarter of 2008. The headline QBR Revenue Index vs. Same Quarter Last Year (SQLY) for Q2 2008 was 47, marking a one point difference from Q1's 48. In the QBR Index, scores below 50 represent a decline in direct marketing business performance during the quarter versus the SQL, while a score of 50 represents no change and scores above 50 represent growth.
Email Experience Council Launches Email Marketing Program for Women's Bean Project
eec, DMA's email marketing arm, announced that it has helped the Women’s Bean Project, a Denver-based nonprofit, successfully design, create, and launch a new email marketing program from scratch. The effort, which began last summer, was part of the eec’s annual E-ality Focus project.
